Once a Faithful, Always a Faithful
On Saturday night I spent my evening around my least favourite type of furniture - a round table. However knowing I was getting to enjoy a delicious 4 course meal and meet a whole new group of people made it all the better. For anyone looking for a taste of what the Traitors was really like, this is definitely the group trip for you!
We headed to the West Coast and checked in at the scenic Radisson Blu Hotel Sligo, where we were instantly made to feel welcome by the incredibly accommodating staff. Our room greeted us with an enormous king-size bed and stunning views, setting the tone for a truly relaxing stay. (Or as relaxed as you can be when playing the Traitors.) We headed down for a quick drink in the Waves Bar before heading to the event. After that, we made our way up to the function room, where the tables were already set for the evening. As someone who has played the actual game before I was sceptical as to how this would compare to the real thing but as soon as the blindfolds emerged it was safe to say I was met with a whole lot of PTSD.
Let the Games Begin
The hosts emerged in the classic cloak and immediately set the tone for the evening. We were told to put on our blindfolds and the Traitors would be selected, the same format that I was used to. Much to the later surprise of everyone at my table, I was chosen as a faithful, which is obviously my favourite way to play the game. The blindfolds were taken off and our starter was served, allowing us to enjoy the food and also get to know the people at our table. It's a great way to get to know new people and our table was of course huge fans of the Traitors so it meant we had a lot to talk about and I had a lot of questions to answer!

Excercising the Little Grey Cells
As the night continued we got to partake in a mission with the chance of winning a shield which allowed the winning team to choose a member to be protected from murder. These nods to the actual format of the show made it even more realistic and really added to the night. The main course then arrived while the waiters continued to top up the drinks and it was revealed that the Traitors had already committed their murder - in plain sight. While we put back on our blindfolds everyone held their breath while we waited to see who had been chosen. After this, it was time to vote for who we thought was a Traitor. There was 2 per table and my table naturally suspected me so I relished in the satisfaction of letting them know that I was of course a faithful. This, however, meant the Traitors won the game (not my preferred way to end a night) but it didn’t matter, because we were soon served a delicious dessert and it was all forgotten about.

The craic continued as we headed down to the bar, where the atmosphere was buzzing with live music and laughter. We spent the evening replaying the night’s events, comparing notes, and trying to figure out who had been the most convincing Traitor (or the most unconvincing Faithful.) It felt like the perfect way to wind down after all the tension and suspense, and the live music added a brilliant energy to the room.
By then, we were officially in a food coma, so we decided to call it a night and head back up to the room. The king-size bed was calling, and after such a long day of drama, we slept incredibly well.
The Next Morning
When we woke up, we made our way down to the leisure area to check out the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. We instantly regretted not making more time for it the day before, it looked so inviting, and we could have easily spent an hour or two just relaxing and soaking in the calm atmosphere. Definitely needed before our night of suspicion & deception.
After checking out, we took a short drive to Rosses Point for a coffee in the "Little Cottage". We grabbed lattes & croissants before walking along the seafront. The sea air and scenery were the perfect way to clear our heads and reflect on the weekend before hitting the road home.

Final Thoughts
Overall, it was a brilliant way to spend a weekend, and it brought me right back to my time on The Traitors. I met so many new people and got the chance to discuss all things Traitors and enjoy some incredible food and soak up all Sligo has to offer. The mix of suspense, laughter, and relaxation made it a weekend I won’t forget anytime soon. I’d definitely do it again.
