Sometimes you don’t have to travel far to enjoy a proper little escape, and our recent stay at the beautiful Glenavon House Hotel in Cookstown, County Tyrone, was just the break we needed.

From relaxing in the hotel to enjoying good food, a little pampering, fresh air and exploring Cookstown, it was the perfect little Northern Ireland getaway.

A Relaxing Stay at Glenavon House Hotel

From the moment we arrived at Glenavon House Hotel, it was lovely to have some time to slow down, relax and enjoy the hotel facilities.

We took full advantage of the leisure centre, spending some time in the pool area and enjoying the sauna and steam room. It was just what we needed to properly unwind and make the most of our stay.

After some time relaxing, we enjoyed a lovely meal in the hotel along with a cocktail, which was the perfect way to finish the evening.

After our meal, we headed over to the bar area, where we enjoyed a couple of delicious cocktails.

A Morning Walk Around the Local Golf Club

The following morning, after our delicious breakfast, we decided to make the most of our time away rather than heading straight home.

We headed off for a walk around the local golf club, which was such a lovely way to start the morning. The fresh air and peaceful surroundings made for a relaxing start to the day and gave us the chance to enjoy a little more of the area.

Exploring Cookstown, County Tyrone

After our walk, we took the short 10-minute drive into Cookstown. Cookstown is a great place to spend a few hours, with a good selection of independent cafés, shops and places to explore. It was the perfect addition to our little hotel break and meant we could enjoy a bit of local exploring before heading home.

Of course, no trip to Cookstown would be complete without coffee and something sweet! We stopped at Just A Wee Bakery for coffee and a tray bake, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. It was the perfect little treat after our morning walk and a lovely way to finish off our trip before heading home.

Overall, we had such a lovely little getaway at Glenavon House Hotel in Cookstown. It was the perfect combination of good food, a relaxing hotel stay, leisure facilities, fresh air and a little exploring, without having to travel too far from home.
