We recently enjoyed a stay at the 4 Four Seasons Hotel & Leisure Club in Co. Monaghan, and it was a lovely change of pace for a little overnight getaway.

From the moment we arrived, there was a great buzz around the hotel. It had a lively atmosphere, but it still felt like somewhere you could properly relax and switch off. There was plenty happening around us, which gave the hotel a really nice energy without taking away from the more relaxing side of the stay. Special shout-out to the staff, they couldn't do enough for us!

One of the first things we noticed when we got to our room was a lovely little surprise from the hotel, Butlers chocolates waiting for us. It was such a thoughtful touch and a nice welcome after arriving. Those small details can make a stay feel that bit more special, and it was certainly appreciated.

Food & A Relaxed Evening

Our package included bed and breakfast, a sharing board and a glass of wine or beer, along with access to the leisure facilities, late check-out and complimentary parking.

The sharing board was a lovely addition and gave us the chance to sit down, have some food and enjoy a drink without having to rush off anywhere. It was exactly the kind of thing we wanted from an overnight break, something relaxed and easy where we could take our time.

The hotel itself had a great atmosphere throughout the evening, with plenty of people enjoying their stays and a real sense of occasion about the place. It was nice to have the option of spending the evening at the hotel, while also knowing that Monaghan town was just a short trip away.

Making the Most of the Leisure Facilities

Having access to the leisure facilities is always a nice bonus when staying in a hotel, particularly when you're only away for one night. It meant we could slow things down, take some time for ourselves and enjoy the hotel rather than feeling like we had to be constantly on the go.

It also added to the feeling that this was more than simply somewhere to sleep for the night, there was plenty to enjoy without even leaving the hotel.

An Evening in Monaghan Town

Later that evening, we decided to head into Monaghan town, and we were pleasantly surprised by how lively it was.

There was a great choice of bars and plenty of places with live music, giving the town a really good atmosphere. It was nice to have so many options for an evening out, whether you wanted somewhere busy and lively or simply somewhere to have a drink and listen to some music.

A Slow Start the Next Morning

The following morning, we had breakfast at the hotel before making the most of the late check-out. It meant there was no need to rush through the morning, which is one of our favourite things about an overnight hotel break.

Rather than heading straight home, we ventured back into Monaghan town for a lovely coffee. We had a little wander around and enjoyed taking our time before eventually setting off home.

Our Overall Experience

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Four Seasons Hotel & Leisure Club. What worked particularly well was the combination of everything in one trip, the lively atmosphere of the hotel, the leisure facilities, the food and drinks included in the package, and the fact that Monaghan town was close enough to enjoy an evening out.

It was also nice to have the next morning to ourselves, with breakfast and late check-out followed by a coffee in town before heading home.

For anyone looking for a relaxed overnight break in Monaghan, it’s a combination that worked really well for us, a comfortable hotel stay, plenty to do without having to travel far, and a lively town atmosphere when you fancy getting out and about.
