This is a Camino with a difference because all roads lead from, instead of to, Santiago! It is a walk with a different feel – you are now heading to the sea and to the “end of the world”. Having reached the lighthouse in Finisterre, you are experiencing a different ending, a different sense of achievement.
Bonus – The accommodation in Finisterre allows you to walk out the back door and straight on to the stunning Playa Langousteira. Add a day’s walk to Muxía to see the Costa da Morte (the Coast of Death) at its most beautiful. Did we mention 24 hours in A Coruña, home to a vibrant tapas scene and the Torre de Hercules?
The level of difficulty is intermediate – the rolling hills in this part of Galicia are similar in many respects to the Irish countryside. Don’t expect an easy walk - but it’s well within the compass of those with an average level of fitness.
For those who have walked from Sarria or Valença / Tui to Santiago previously, it’s a bit tougher and with fewer stops along the way.

ITINERARY
Day 1: 17th May 2027
Fly from Dublin to Santiago. Upon arrival, you are provided with a private transfer to Santiago city centre.
Stay in Santiago for your first night and enjoy exploring the historic centre of the city, all centred around the cathedral in the Plaza Obradoiro.
Evening meal in Santiago - a chance to get to know each other!
Day 2: 18th May 2027
Walk 21km to Negreira. You will very quickly find yourself in the countryside, leaving Santiago behind.
The Roman bridge and horseshoe waterfall at Ponte Maceira is a highlight of this, and indeed any, Camino stage.
Day 3: 19th May 2027
Walk 21.3km to Santa Mariña. From Negreira, you will ascend gradually for a full 11km or so until just before Vilaserio, while the second half of the day levels out.
Second leg: walk to Olveiroa (12.7km) or transfer to Olveiroa to spend the night in this tranquil hamlet.
For those wishing to walk every km of the way, you can walk a full 34km from Negreira to Olveiroa (through Santa Mariña).

Day 4: 20th May 2027
Walk 20km to Cée. There’s a lovely, peaceful stretch across the headland from Hospital to Cée passing through fields of pine trees.
The pretty hamlets of Ponte Olveira, Olveiroa and Logoso mark the earlier part of a day that eventually brings you downhill to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
Day 5: 21st May 2027
Walk 12.7km to Finisterre. Your entire day is spent getting views of journey’s end, the headland of Finisterre. The beaches at Estorde and Sardiñeiro whet your appetite for the beautiful beach of Langosteira which brings you all the way to the fishing town of Finisterre.
A 6km round trip to the lighthouse allows you to watch the sun go down over the end of the world. You might even avail of a trip out to sea for the sunset.
Day 6: 22nd May 2027
Walk 27km to Muxía. Muxía is a quiet Camino jewel – many finish up walking in Finisterre and don’t know what they are missing! Explore the wild Atlantic crashing against the shore and admire the Señora de la Barca church standing proud against the Atlantic. Remember that the beautiful Costa da Morte gets its name for good reason - don’t stray too close to the water!
Evening meal at our accommodation – to celebrate the achievement of the week gone by!
Day 7: 23rd May 2027
Free morning in Muxía before returning to Santiago airport for the return flight to Dublin.
