Meet the team - Aoife, Social Media Manager

Embracing the Joys of Work

There’s an old saying that if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. While clichés often wear thin, this one resonates well with me. Working in this incredible company has been nothing short of a dream, combining passion, purpose, and the unique pleasure of travel.

When I first joined the team, I was thrilled by the potential for professional growth and meaningful work. Yet, what I hadn’t fully anticipated was how much I would come to cherish the opportunities to travel.

Hi I’m Aoife, Rory’s Travel Club Social Media Manager, from the fine county of Fermanagh. I’ve been in this job for only four months but what a fun filled and exciting four months it has been! So how did I get here?

Back in 2021 I graduated from University of Ulster with a degree in Communications, Management and Public Relations. At this time covid was rife and opportunities were few but I was lucky to secure my first marketing job just before I graduated. From then, I fell in love with all things social media and content creation.

In the winter of 2023, I was working freelance as a Content Creator and Social Media Manager. During this time I created the viral Charlie’s Bar Christmas Ad. This video was seen all over the world and quickly became one of the most popular Christmas Advertisements of our time.

At the beginning of the New Year I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to begin my career with Rory’s Travel Club. Having heard of this company before and the amazing work that they do I was delighted to be joining this great team. In the short time that I have worked here I have been afforded some fantastic opportunities. Of these has been an overnight stay in the tranquil Lusty Beg Island,  a short break with my family to Bordeaux and I am now looking forward to visiting Amsterdam. Without Rory and his amazing generosity I would never have experienced these cultures nor had the opportunity to travel with work. Even my day to day work life is very enjoyable. Most days involve responding to comments, creating posts, writing blogs and communicating with Rory. With a combination of in- person office work and remote work, I am able to use my lunch break to go to the gym, visit my granny or even do the grocery shopping meaning that I have plenty of free time in the evenings.

As we move forward, I am excited about the future adventures that await. The prospect of new destinations and the experiences they bring fills me with enthusiasm. I am eager to continue learning, growing, and contributing to our shared goals.

Here’s to more travels, expanding our offerings, and many more shared successes. This is more than a job, it enable people from all different paths to travel together creating memories, building friendships, and exploring the world.
