My First Stay at Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links - And It Certainly Won’t Be My Last
There are some hotels that impress you, and then there are the ones that leave you already thinking about when you can return before you’ve even checked out. That was exactly my experience during my first stay at the stunning Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links.
Set along Dublin’s breath taking coastline, this luxury seaside resort offers the perfect mix of relaxation, elegance and escapism. From beautiful views and incredible food to peaceful surroundings and warm hospitality, every part of the experience felt special from beginning to end.
The moment we arrived, the atmosphere immediately felt calm and inviting. There is something about being beside the sea that instantly helps you switch off, and Portmarnock Resort captures that feeling perfectly. The combination of coastal scenery, luxurious interiors and the famous golf links creates such a unique setting that feels worlds away from the busy pace of everyday life.
A Room With the Most Beautiful View
One of the highlights of our stay was definitely our room overlooking the golf course.
Waking up to those peaceful green views in the morning was such a lovely experience. The room itself was spacious, stylish and incredibly comfortable, with soft neutral interiors that added to the relaxing feel of the stay. Everything felt thoughtfully designed, creating the perfect space to unwind after spending the day exploring the grounds and coastline.
The resort has a really elegant feel throughout, but what I loved most was how welcoming and relaxed it still felt at the same time.
Dining at Portmarnock Resort
During our stay, we enjoyed a two-course dinner in the Jameson Bar, and it was a lovely experience from start to finish.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and relaxed, creating the perfect setting for a cosy evening meal. The food was beautifully presented, full of flavour, and cooked to perfection, but what really stood out for us was the service. Our waitress, Emma, was brilliant throughout the evening- so friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
We also loved that the hotel offers a range of dining options, including both the Jameson Bar and the Seaview Restaurant. The Seaview Restaurant, in particular, showcases the best of local seafood alongside stunning views, but on this occasion, we chose to dine in the Jameson Bar for a more relaxed setting.
To start, I had the Prawn Pil Pil - a beautifully presented dish with smoked paprika, mussels, crispy chorizo, and grilled sourdough, which was full of flavour.
For the main course, I opted for the Tagliatelle with Smoked Chicken and Wild Mushrooms. The dish featured silky ribbons of pasta in a rich wild mushroom velouté, finished with smoked chicken, rocket leaves, and aged Parmesan.
My mum chose the Grilled Half Chicken, which was rosemary and lemon-grilled free-range chicken served with creamy mashed potatoes, charred vegetables, and a cabernet sauvignon jus.
To finish, my mum enjoyed the Caramel Apple Crumble with Crème Anglaise and Cinnamon Cream, which she absolutely loved.
We also enjoyed a delicious Pornstar Martini each.
Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience combining great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and outstanding service.
Breakfast Done Right
The breakfast selection was fantastic, with plenty of fresh and delicious options to choose from, but my personal favourite had to be the granola, fruit and yoghurt. It was so fresh, light and full of flavour - the perfect way to start the morning before heading out for a walk along the coast.
The Perfect Coastal Escape
One of the things I loved most about Portmarnock Resort was the location itself. Being situated right beside Velvet Strand beach gives the hotel such a peaceful atmosphere that instantly makes you feel relaxed.
Whether you want long beach walks, a romantic overnight escape, a golf getaway or simply a luxurious break by the sea, this hotel offers the perfect setting for it all.
The grounds are beautifully maintained, the sea air is refreshing and the entire resort has such a calm and tranquil feel throughout. It is the kind of place where you can completely slow down and properly unwind.
Conclusion
My first stay at Portmarnock Resort & Jameson Golf Links completely exceeded my expectations, and it is safe to say it definitely won’t be my last.
From our beautiful golf course view room and delicious dining experience to the fantastic breakfast and peaceful coastal surroundings, every part of the stay felt memorable.
What makes this hotel so special is not just the luxurious setting, but the overall feeling it gives you while you are there - relaxed, comfortable and completely switched off from the outside world.
If you are looking for a luxury coastal escape in Ireland, Portmarnock Resort is one I would absolutely recommend adding to your list.
