Hey everyone, Amy & Rónan here from Ditchinthe9to5! We have done lots of travelling over the last few months and today we want to tell you all about Summer 2023 - where we spent 4 weeks interrailing across Europe! During this time, we visited 5 countries - 11 cities.

Interrailing has definitely changed over the years; it’s no longer a rough and ready backpack trip that you might think it would be! Europe's public transport system is amazing, from trams to buses to their rail network; it really has it all down to a T. We traveled light, and what worked best for us was a carry-on-sized case each & small backpack.

We set off from Dublin airport and landed in Frankfurt, Germany, where we spent the night in an airport hotel. The next morning we headed to Frankfurt city centre, straight to the train station, and 1 hour train later we arrived in Heidelberg.

The remainder of our itinerary went a little like this -

2 nights in Heidelberg 2 trains to Innsbruck, Austria 2 nights in Innsbruck 2 trains to Bled, Slovenia 3 nights in Bled 1 train to Zagreb, Croatia 1 night in Zagreb, Croatia 1 train to Split, Croatia 2 nights in Split Overnight Ferry from Split to Ancona, Italy 1 train to Naples, Italy 1 night in Naples 1 train to Sorrento 5 nights in Sorrento 2 Trains to Florence, Italy 3 nights in Florence 1 train to La Spezia, Italy 2 Nights in La Spezia 2 trains to Como, Italy 2 Nights in Como Fly home from Milan

We drank wine in the vineyards of Tuscany, went white water rafting on the rivers of Bled, snorkeled in the blue waters of Croatia & drank champagne on a boat trip exploring the Amalfi Coast.

This was a trip of a lifetime! We ticked off many bucket list items, and it will be one we will tell our grandkids about! We cannot recommend interrailing across Europe enough
