14.02.2026: KUALA LUMPUR – GENTING HIGHLANDS (B)
Breakfast in the hotel.
Start your journey with a leisurely drive to the awe-inspiring Batu Caves, a massive limestone formation that is over 400 million years old. Known as the focal point of Malaysia's vibrant Hindu Thaipusam festival, the Batu Caves offer a striking combination of natural beauty and cultural significance. Be sure to capture a memorable photo in front of the towering 42.7-meter-high statue of Lord Murugan, the tallest statue of its kind in the world.
From Batu Caves, continue your adventure to Genting Highlands, located about 45 km from Kuala Lumpur at an elevation of 1,740 meters above sea level, surrounded by lush tropical rainforest.
Genting Highlands is home to a rich variety of ecosystems, including the Dipterocarp forests, which are found between 750 and 1,200 meters above sea level in Southeast Asia. These forests host over 500 species of hardwood trees, forming the majority of the forest canopy. In the upper reaches of Genting Highlands, especially around Gunung Tebu, you'll find unique fauna, including reptiles, amphibians, and rare plant species such as Thismia limkokthayi, a mycoheterotrophic plant.
At altitudes of 1,200 to 1,500 meters, the montane oak forests provide a cooler climate that supports a wide variety of mammals, birds, insects, and amphibians. Above 1,500 meters, the montane-ericaceous forests are dominated by stunted, gnarled trees from the Ericaceae family, as well as bamboo, ferns, and moss. This high-altitude ecosystem is home to mammals like the Smooth Otter and Leopard Cat, as well as primates such as the Long-tailed Macaque and Silvered Leaf Monkey.
Genting Highlands is a biodiversity hotspot, with several bio-parks such as Genting, Chin Swee, Awana, and Goh Tong Bio Parks. Explore this rich natural environment on a 5 km guided trail, where expert guides will lead you through the breathtaking Upper Dipterocarp and Montane Oak Forests at altitudes ranging from 1,200 to 1,500 meters. This trek provides a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the region’s diverse ecosystems and wildlife.
