Itinerary – In Spain

July 6th, Day 1

Fly from Dublin to Santiago. Upon arrival, you are provided with a private transfer to A

Coruña.

Introduction to the tapas scene in A Coruña - a different way to dine out!

July 7th, Day 2

In the morning, leave from St. James’ Church in A Coruña to walk 10 km to Burgo. Here, we

have a short break before transferring back to Coruña.

We will transfer directly to Coruña’s most historic monument - the UNESCO World Heritage

Site of the Torre de Hercules.

After visiting the Torre, we will walk back to the city centre along the prom by the famous

OPrban and Riazor beaches, finishing up at the Plaza Maria Pita.

Free evening to explore the old town - the shopping on Rua Real is optional!

July 8th, Day 3

Return transfer to Burgo to walk 20 km to As Travesas. Today’s walk is a very tranquil one,

passing through a couple of stopping points along the way; once you reach As Travesas, you

will have merged with the Camino Inglés route from Ferrol.

The second half of the day takes in the steepest climb of the week, a 5km section just after

leaving the village of Sarandós. Our finishing point for the day is a Camino institution - Casa

Avelina - where a welcome always awaits you!

July 9th, Day 4

Return transfer to As Travesas.

Walk 27 km to Siguiero. Today is a very pleasant day, walking in rural settings once more.

The first half of the day is mostly spent along quiet roads until you reach A Calle and its

landmark Cruceiro bar. Before that, the quirky exhibits at A Rua will have everyone taking

out their cameras!

After resting in A Calle, the remainder of the day involves walking along forest tracks and

minor roads until you approach the town of Siguiero. After a week of undulating terrain,

you’re nearly there!

July 10th, Day 5

Walk 16 km to Santiago. About half way through the day, you find yourself walking through

the wonderfully-named Enchanted Forest, after which comes your first stopping point at

Hotel Castro.

From here on, it’s all about the destination; for the last 5 km, you are making your way

through the city outskirts until you reach your destination – the mighty cathedral of

Santiago!

You have plenty of time to collect your Compostela (the Camino certificate) from the Pilgrim

Office and to take in the sights of the old town.

We meet up for an evening meal to celebrate our achievement – what you get up to after

that is up to yourself!

July 11th, Day 6

Free morning in Santiago and a chance to attend the midday pilgrim mass (if you are lucky,

you might get to see the Botafumeiro swing). The historic centre of Santiago is a UNESCO

World Heritage site and a beautiful place to wander or indeed to sip a café (or something a

bit stronger!) and watch the world go by. The centre of Santiago is very compact and easily

walkable – a treasure trove of beautiful buildings and winding streets.

Return to Santiago airport for your return flight to Dublin.
