Camino Portugués:

Baiona to Santiago

1st June 2026 - 7 Nights

€795pp Sharing | Solo Supplement €280

This is the final section of the fastest-growing Camino route, walking approximately 124km from the seaside town of Baiona, enough to qualify you for your Compostela cert in Santiago.

While it’s the final section of the coastal route, this can be a bit misleading. Once you reach Arcade at the end of the 2nd day’s walk, you will have merged with the central route and it’s inland from here to Santiago.

Moderate to average difficulty. The rolling hills in this part of Galicia are similar in many

respects to the Irish countryside. Don’t expect an easy walk - but it’s well within the compass of those with an average level of fitness.

ITINERARY

Day 1: 1st June 2026

  • Fly from Dublin to Santiago. Upon arrival, you are provided with a private transfer to Baiona.

  • Take the chance to explore the forteleza in Baiona or to have a drink in the old town directly behind the promenade.

  • Evening meal included - a chance to get to know the others in the group!

Day 2: 2nd June 2026

  • Walk 27.1 km from Baiona to Vigo. Today’s walk sees you keep the water in the distance to your left – you will eventually arrive down to the Bay of Vigo.

  • Vigo is Galicia’s largest city; an important port city but also home to an old town with plenty of eating, drinking and shopping opportunities!

Day 3: 3rd June 2026

  • Walk 13 km from Vigo to Redondela and then a further 7.4km to Arcade. Redondela is where the coastal and central Portuguese Camino routes merge; an obvious stopping point for lunch.

  • Arcade is the self-styled Galician home of oysters and is also a chance for you to take a beach stroll to watch the sun go down over the Bay of Vigo.

Day 4: 4th June 2026

  • Walk 13 km from Arcade to Pontevedra. Your day starts by crossing the beautiful Roman bridge from Arcade to Pontesampaio.

  • The short day allows you plenty of time to explore the old city centre of Pontevedra, centred around the Basilica de Santa Maria in Praza Ourense.

Day 5: 5th June 2026

  • Walk 21km from Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis. A quiet day spent mostly on minor country roads allows you the chance to relax in San Amaro on the way to Caldas.

  • Caldas de Reis (“the thermal springs of the kings”) takes its name from the thermal springs that are still used today. You will have the opportunity to use the thermal pool in a local hotel (small fee may apply).

Day 6: 6th June 2026

  • Walk 20km from Caldas to Padrón. Passing through possible resting points at Santa Mariña, O Pino and San Miguel, the day finishes up in Padrón, a town synonymous with Camino legend. It is here that the remains of St. James are said to have been taken ashore by his followers.

  • Padrón is also home to the Pimientos de Padrón - peppers with a random hot surprise that are a local specialty worth sampling!

Day 7: 7th June 2026

  • Walk 24km to Santiago. Today is all about reaching your journey’s end. You pass through Escravitude, Anguira de Suso, Faramello and Milladoiro before walking the final couple of kilometres to the cathedral in Santiago.

  • Set off early to give yourself plenty of time to explore the incredible city of Santiago, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the perfect place to get lost in meandering streets or to sit at a bar and watch the pilgrim world go by!

Day 8: 8th June 2026

  • Free morning in Santiago before returning to Santiago airport for the return flight to Dublin.

  • Return to Santiago airport for your return flight to Dublin.
